Bulgari x Phillips Octo Finissimo Review

The Bulgari X Phillips Octo Finissimo is a special limited edition of 50 pieces created by Bulgari in partnership with the famous action house Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo.

The main difference of this special edition is the unusual (for an Octo Finissimo) sector dial without the bulgari brand and the offset seconds of other models. According to Aurel Bacs of Bacs & Russo "We wanted to draw the focus on the engraved dial"  .. "with its large numerals and the chapter ring whose color sways from black to grey to bronze, depending on the lighting."

The bracelet is the very comfortable one in titanium

The only BVLGARI marking is in the clasp (and the backcase)

The sector dials were pretty much "en-vogue" in the 30s so it is the first time that they are integrated in such a futuristic design as the Octo Finissimo.

The combination is simply fantastic. The dial is so clean that it could even recall the design language of e-ink powered devices like the Kindle: the very light grey appears to be the background while the laser-etched dial represents the inked part.

As we can see below, comparing it with the previously reviewed Bulgari Octo Finissimo Revolution limited edition, the case and bracelet are pretty much identical, but the dial creates a distinct and unique design language: an intersection between past and present, created by true experts of vintage designs and watches.

Another key difference with the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Revolution is the movement: the Bulgari x Phillips is powered by the more modern and automatic Caliber BVL 138 with a platinum microrotor.

Another comparison with the Revolution Octo Finissimo

In conclusion, we think that the Bulgari x Phillips Octo Finissimo is one of the best limited editions: a combination between past and present for an outstanding execution.

At 5.15mm in height, the watch is ultra-slim (or in Italian, "finissimo") and very elegant. An amazing choice for a modern CEO.
